CCPM is the combination of Critical Chain
schedule development and control with the Project Management Institute
(PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge(PMBOK). It was first described
completely in Larry Leach's book:
Leach, Lawrence P. (2000) Critical Chain
Project Management.
Boston: Artech House.
CCPM shares the Critical Chain understanding of the reality of variation
in task duration and dependence of tasks in a project network. CCPM
is a probabilistic method, although the Gantt charts drawn for CCPM
plans may look the same as deterministic Critical Path schedules. CCPM
eliminates start and stop dates for each task, and consolidates the
provision for task duration variation into buffers.
